Today, I’m honored to finally share something that has been growing quietly for many months. After a year of listening, building, and becoming—together—we are stepping forward with a name that reflects who we are and how we serve. It is with deep gratitude that I welcome you to:
Wise Roots Apothecary
When we began exploring a new name, we didn’t start with marketing language or trends. We started with questions that bubbled up from our souls and in sacred space during our first staff retreat last May. What kind of care are we truly offering? What do we believe about healing? And how do we want to be in relationship—with the plants, with one another, and with this land and community?
The word wisdom kept returning to us—not as something owned or claimed, but as something shared. Wisdom lives in the roots of the plants, in the hands of the farmers, in the lineages of our ancestors, and in the ancestral lands we stand upon. It lives in the lived experience of our clients, in the voices of our community, and in the quiet knowing each person carries within themselves. Wisdom is not hierarchical here. It is relational, it is emergent. It is a practice. My favorite saying is knowledge becomes wisdom through lived experience and practice. It is for the curious. Nature as a whole, which includes humans, and the plant kingdom in particular is cyclical and we are never done learning or asking questions in order to live more harmoniously.
Roots speak to that same truth. They remind us that vitality comes from connection—connection to the earth, to lineage, to place, and to the deep intelligence of the body itself. In our work, we do not approach anyone as broken or in need of fixing. We believe each person is whole. The plants are not here to “correct” us, but to assist us in restoring and maintaining our innate vitality, resilience, and balance. They are our partners in life.
SWise Roots Apothecary is a name that holds this philosophy. It reflects our commitment to plant-centered care, community-based healing, and an approach rooted in respect, reciprocity, joy, and relationships. While our name and visual identity are evolving, what has always mattered most remains unchanged: our people, our formulations, our devotion to the plants, and our service to this community. And of course our mantra:" healing doesn't have to be heavy." If it doesn't bring joy then why do it?
Over the coming weeks, you’ll begin to see this name reflected across our social spaces, and later this month, in a renewed online and email communications experience designed to support you more seamlessly. We are so grateful to walk this path with you, now under a name that truly reflects who we are.
