Herbal Apothecary Based in Colorado, Shipping Nationally

In a world where the rapid pace of life often overshadows the wisdom of our ancestors, it has become essential to reconnect with the knowledge that has guided humanity for centuries.

By merging the timeless teachings of nature with scientific understanding and modern rituals, Wise Roots Apothecary exists to be the bridge between the ancient and modern as well as the sacred and mundane.

Here, we cultivate a safe and sacred space for individuals from all walks of life to explore and nurture a profound relationship with the healing power of the plants - enhancing our collective journey toward vitality.

Wholeness & Inner Wisdom

Every individual carries innate wholeness and wisdom. Our work is to support the remembrance and expression of that truth through plant medicine and ritual. We are here as way-showers but the choice to heal is ultimately an inside job. We give you the tools to do the inner work with equanimity and love.

Herbal Education & Empowered Use

Knowledge becomes wisdom through practice and experience. Everyone should have access to trustworthy, grounded, and safe guidance in using herbal remedies with confidence and care. We are here to shift the narrative of healthcare back into the hands of individuals.

Reverence for the Plants

We honor plants as sacred allies with the power to heal the body, mind, heart, spirit, and soul. We engage with them respectfully, ethically, and in relationship - not extraction. We intentionally walk the beauty way.

Merging Past & Future

We are a bridge between ancient traditions and modern life, weaving together ancestral plant knowledge, contemporary science, and evolving daily rituals for meaningful, accessible healing.

Earth Stewardship & Reciprocity

We are dedicated to the healing of the Earth and all her creatures. Our practices prioritize sustainability, regeneration, and giving back to the land that gives to us.

Inclusive & Caring Community

We welcome all individuals from all walks of life and backgrounds. Our apothecary is a safe and sacred space where people are seen, supported, cared for, and honored. We prioritize listening and curious inquiry. We call this Radical Hospitality.

Feminine Leadership and Empowerment

Ultimately, as a woman-owned and led business, we champion feminine wisdom, collaboration, and empowerment in all aspects of our work - inspiring others no matter their gender to lead from the heart and soul.

Sacred and Playful Spaces

Healing doesn't have to be heavy. We cultivate spaces that are both sacred and lighthearted - where joy, laughter, and play are not just a part of the medicine, they ARE the medicine.

Dina

Hello I am Dina the Proprietress of Anna’s Apothecary - turned Wise Roots.  I acquired Wise Roots in 2025 and am in deep gratitude for my staff, customers, and the Manitou community. I feel so very welcomed.

I am a weaver in spirit (and in reality). I weave together many experiences and I weave communities. After 15 years in a corporate role leading systems, process, and people, I left to pursue the healing arts. It is hard to believe but that was 24 years ago and I have been an entrepreneur in this space ever since. That would not have been possible without the support of my family. My husband Jason, my son Casey, and my mom Denise have always held the support I needed to open to possibility and say yes to the next steps on my journey as they presented themselves.

My plant medicine training began in 1998 with Susun Weed and then later with Shelley Torgove in 2005 where I deepened into Community Herbalism and Women’s Traditional Healing practices. I am also a Certified Aromatherapist for both people and animals. I hold certifications in many modalities of bodywork, creating ritual and ceremony, as well as soul mentorship, energetic and spiritual coaching and spiritual companionship. In addition I have several leadership based certificates and a certificate in Instructional Design. I LOVE designing and teaching workshops, circles, and community rituals both in-person and online. I consider myself a servant and visionary leader. I work for my staff and customers, and I exist to shine a light on the gifts of all of those around me. Most importantly, I work for the Divine. And food, I work for excellent food. Which is my love language. I am Italian after all.

My passion and study of the plants is the focus on the emotional, spiritual and ritual uses of the plants, as well as cross-cultural Folk Medicine and the stories of the plants and their ability to heal us on all levels that have passed from generation to generation.
I also live to learn and am currently studying the plants and Folk Medicine and Spiritual Practices of my ancestors of Southern Italy.
I believe plants have an affinity with humans to help us access our consciousness, do our inner work at the deepest levels in order to remember our soul curriculum, and be of service to something larger than ourselves. Plants go way beyond physical healing.

My spirit animal is Zebra- I am deeply curious, I live in the paradox, I am unconventional and I do it with joy and irreverence.
My ancestral plant ally is Bay Laurel or Alloro in Italian. Bay teaches me to access my intuition, my intelligence and to bring the visions I receive into reality. She teaches me to speak what I see, and speak it into form. Listening to Bay is one of the reasons I decided to become the Proprietress of Anna’s.
One of my many favorite quotes: “No we breathe, we pulse, we regenerate. Our hearts beat, our minds create, our souls ingest.Thirty-seven seconds well used is a lifetime.” Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.

Meagan

Hello! I’m Meagan — Chief Operations Officer here at Wise Roots Apothecary. I’ve been a part of the team since 2019, but I’ve been involved in the field of “alternative" medicine since 2013. I started here as a weekend only employee and while growing into my current role, I’ve fallen deeper in love with plant medicine, developed a successful intimacy line (yoni oils included), and found so much joy in empowering and educating people.

I’m a Louisiana native now rooted in the mountains of Colorado. Life has blessed me with many roles - mother of three incredible daughters, wife, advocate, creator, and self-proclaimed wild woman.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Our Lady of the Lake University with a master’s degree in Sociology emphasizing community health. I studied how our environments - neighborhoods, relationships, and access to care - impact overall wellness. My work has always leaned into holistic health, especially when it comes to women’s bodies and stories - I’ve led a breastfeeding empowerment group calledRational Lactivists, I’ve run a group calledMom Journalswhere women could share their views on motherhood - raw and uncensored, I’ve spoken at Sociology conferences on how integrating midwifery and other holistic modalities could improve maternal outcomes in the U.S., and I’ve taught classes on holistic approaches to women’s health and sexuality.

Along with my degree, I hold certifications in herbalism and nutrition. I never stop learning, evolving, or creating and I care deeply about being of service to the community. I’m here to hold space for the mess. I believe in listening deeply, loving hard, and showing up.

Random tidbits about me:
•I believe that with enough research and determination, I can fix anything. I’ve fixed the drain on a dishwasher and changed both the heating element and belt on a dryer.
•My favorite movie - not just during the holidays, is Christmas Vacation.
•If I were an herb, I would be motherwort - the fierce, heart-steadying plant that shows up for women in their most tender, transformative seasons. She’s grounding, bold, and unapologetically nurturing — a wild-hearted woman in the shape of a leaf.
•My favorite quote: “Believe in yourselves. Dream. Try. Do good.” - Mr. Feeny

Leigh

Hi there! I’m Leigh, the Production Manager here at the apothecary. Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, I’ve been soaking up the mountain air in Colorado for the past five years. I’m currently studying Sustainable Design with a focus on interiors and architecture, aiming to blend herbal knowledge with thoughtful design to create greener, healing spaces that truly connect with nature. I’m also taking courses through a community herbalist program to deepen my plant knowledge.

With the nice weather on its way, I’m looking forward to more rooftop adventures, rock climbing, and paddleboarding with my dog, Rue. Rue is our shop dog on Sundays and Mondays and will either be the first to greet you or taking a nap underneath one of the tables. She’s my sweet 12-year-old sidekick with a love for snacks.

My long-term vision is to bridge the worlds of herbalism and architecture—to design environments that support well-being, create balance, and grow in harmony with the natural world. I believe in the power of working with nature, not against it—whether I’m crafting herbal concoctions or dreaming up a space that breathes. There’s so much wisdom in the natural world, and I’m endlessly inspired to create spaces and formulations that reflect that deep connection.

Kilie

Hello Friends! My name is Kilie, I joined the team at Wise Roots in June 2024! I am a Colorado native! I am always attempting to bring a vibrant mix of curiosity, compassion, and creativity to the team. With a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and a background working with at-risk youth, I have always been drawn to holistic wellness and the connection between mind, body, and nature.

As an Herbal Educator, I would like my focus to be on mental health and addiction and the powerful role herbs can play in easing the discomforts of everyday life. I have a strong passion for helping others, and allowing a safe space for community and communication. I love helping both adolescents and adults discover accessible, supportive ways to work with plants—especially during life’s more challenging moments. I like to live by the words of George Bernard Shaw "Life isn't about finding yourself; it's about creating yourself.”

I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Social Work and am committed to lifelong learning in the world of herbalism. Others may say I am known for my bubbly, eccentric energy, and warm presence. I believe in learningwithour clients with constant continued education and humility. If I am ever unsure of the answer, I will happily dive into research or consult with the team to find the best solution together! I thank you for your time and patience as we grow this community together!

Addison

Hey! I’m Addison, and I joined the Wise Roots Apothecary team in September 2025. My roots began in the Midwest, but a lifelong pull toward the mountains ultimately led me to pursue herbalism here in Colorado. My journey with herbalism began four years ago when a wise woman generously shared her love and knowledge of the plant world, igniting something deep within my heart that has continued to grow ever since.

Since then, I have pursued certifications and immersed myself in the path of community herbalism, guided by a deep calling to healing and a reverence for the ways plants show up for us. My studies have been shaped by both formal education and hands-on experience, and I see herbalism as a lifelong learning journey through both community and research.

As an herbal educator, I feel deeply called to serve our community by helping others connect with the wisdom of the plants. I have found so much joy in empowering and educating others, especially those who are just beginning their herbal journey. The women at Wise Roots are incredible, and the community here is something I feel deeply grateful to be a part of. I am devoted to making plant medicine accessible, relational, and rooted in both tradition and lived experience. I believe that when we care for the land, it in turn cares for us.

I feel especially drawn to whole-body herbalism and aromatherapy. I enjoy studying the subtle yet powerful ways scent can support the body, mind, and spirit. I approach this work by caring for the whole person, honoring the deep connection among our physical, emotional, and environmental experiences. I find joy in building meaningful connections with people at all stages – whether they’re curious, just beginning, or have been on this path for some time.

My approach to herbalism is open-hearted and ever-evolving, rooted in a deep commitment to learning from the plants, my teachers, and the community around me.

It is a true honor to be a steward of the plants. To listen, to learn, and to cultivate meaningful relationships with the natural world.

Fun facts:

  • You’ll usually find me somewhere between music, crafting, and the great outdoors with my hands in the earth. Nature is medicine!
  • Firm believer that life is better with animals (please bring your dog).
