We are so excited to announce that we are now making Glycerite tinctures!
So why is this important and why is it exciting and what in the world is a glycerite?
🌿 What’s a Glycerite?
A glycerite is a tincture made with vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol—sweet, gentle, and alcohol-free. Where alcohol tinctures burn like fire, glycerites move like nectar, carrying the plant’s medicine in a soft, honeyed embrace. Perfect for children, elders, anyone choosing to be alcohol-free, or anyone seeking healing that tastes of kindness, glycerites preserve both the remedy and the sweetness of the plant world.
This is a culmination of one of our goals this year to begin creating formulas that meet the needs of different audiences. Glycerites are kid-friendly, and support those on a path of sobriety. It is important to us to provide herbal remedies for all those seeking our care and to work more deeply with the healing energy of the plants.
We decided to begin with Catnip Glycerite because it is an amazingly gentle, yet effective plant as a relaxant, especially for the kiddos, but also for ease of fevers, gas, nervous stomachs, and menstrual cramping. To read more about catnip and it's magic we wrote a longer article you can find here.
As time goes on we will be tincturing several more plants in this manner, but we are proud to introduce this first one to you!
We are refining and revitalizing our Essential Oil and Aromatic Medicine Collection!
I began my journey with plants in the realms of Essential Oils, Aromatherapy, and Aromatic Medicine. I would actually call it more of a love affair. There is something about the aromatic plants that adds an extra layer to any healing. Their ability to bypass our neuroreceptors and go straight to limbic system to unlock and unravel our nervous system, as well as, unlock our memories both recent and ancient is something I will come back to time and time again. And yet I do not feel they are a replacement to herbal medicine, they are an enhancement to it, and are especially useful for emotional, energetic, spiritual, and topical use (diluted). In case you are wondering, no I am not a proponent of ingesting essential oils and I am happy to explain to you all the reasons why if you care to reach out to me. That includes in cooking.
These aromatic medicines need to be used with care and reverence (as do all plants, but especially when they get distilled and wind up in a bottle), not only because of their potency, but also because they take a lot more of the precious plant material to distill and produce than an herbal remedy does. And I always recommend when people use them, they do so with intention and realize what it takes from Mother Earth and all the people around the world involved in harvesting, distilling, and getting that bottle to you. It is easy to forget that it started its life as a plant, and many people use oils without intention or knowing their purpose, and they use more than is necessary for the desired outcome, and often cause symptoms they don't want resulting from overuse, or the inappropriate deliver method.
Over time I will be providing more education to the community on the uses of the oils and specific properties. But for now I am carefully considering what oils we want to add to our collection and which ones we want to continue to carry. It is easy to go "crazy" buying oils once you fall in love with them. But high quality oils are expensive and the rarer the oil or the more plant material it takes to distill a bottle the more expensive it becomes, not to mention that many of the plants are becoming over-harvested. So my goal is to bring you the highest quality oils that span the range of being helpful to different body systems and tend to be oils that are not from at risk or over-harvested plants. I may choose some that have the same actions and affinities than some of the rarer and very expensive oils. We have also introduced some resins that can be burned, powdered and tinctured or infused in oils that I will be sharing information on in the near future. These ways of working with aromatic plants are also highly medicinal and have been used this way since before humanity began distilling plant material to make essential oils. We will also begin to start offering different carrier oils that you can dilute your oils in and that have healing properties in their own right, therefore enhancing the essential oil and enabling them to penetrate the skin. I can talk for days about all of this! But without further ado here are the new oils we have added to our collection! And we still have our existing collection available but there will be some changes to those over time.
Black Pepper- Piper nigrum: is warming, stimulating, and grounding. Used to ease sore muscles, support digestion, and sharpen focus, this spicy oil also ignites courage and inner strength. Perfect for massage blends, diffusion, or ritual use. Always dilute before applying to skin.
Copaiba Balsam-Copaifera officinalis:This gentle Amazonian resin oil is both a physical soother and a spiritual anchor. Copaiba calms inflammation, relaxes tension, and opens the heart to ease and peace. A beautiful ally for meditation, self-care rituals, or simply finding your center in a busy day.
Try it in your diffuser tonight or blend into a massage oil for deep comfort.
Eucalyptus Leaf- Eucalyptus Radiata- We have always carried eucalyptus at Anna's and it is the star of the show in some of our salves and body products. However, there are many species with slightly different actions. I chose to move forward with the Radiata species because it is more gentle and appropriate for children over 5. It offers gentle yet powerful support for body, mind, and spirit. Known for its crisp, refreshing aroma, it helps clear the breath, ease tension, uplift focus, and cleanse stagnant energy—making it a must-have for respiratory health, immune support, and spiritual renewal.
Holy Basil- Ocimum sanctum: Discover the sacred power of Tulsi, Ayurveda’s “Queen of Herbs.” This potent essential oil supports immune health, stress relief, and spiritual cleansing. Use it in diffusers, massage blends, or rituals to create balance for body, mind, and spirit.
Laurel Leaf- Laurel nobilis: Bay laurel or laurel leaf is near and dear to my heart. It is my ancestral plant ally and I cannot imagine not having it in both loose herb and essential oil form. Bright, spicy, and steeped in ancient wisdom, Laurel Leaf was once burned and inhaled by the Oracle of Delphi to access prophecy. Today, it helps us breathe deeper, think clearer, relieve sore muscles, and trust our intuition. Use it in ritual, meditation, or simply to lift mental fog — but always with respect for its potent energy.
Each of these oils have different affinities, ways of working with them, and contraindications to pay attention to. Please see our website for those deeper level details. If you have any questions about how to safely use essential oils and other aromatic products please do NOT hesitate to reply here or reach out to me. I'm here for it!
These are five of several new oils I am pouring with the deepest intentions of love and healing for all those who experience them. Please stop in to the store and give them the sniff test! I wish I had smell-o-vision for everyone who is not local! More to come!
