Bergamot essential oil is phototoxic. Do not expose skin to sunlight or tanning beds for 12 hours after topical application. Serious skin irritation or burns can occur.
- Always dilute (typical topical dilution: 0.5–2%)
- Avoid use on sun-exposed areas
- Never apply undiluted or add undiluted to baths
- FCF Bergamot (furocoumarin-free) is bergapten-free and non-phototoxic, and may be used more safely on skin (max ~0.4%)
- Patch test recommended
- Use cautiously during pregnancy and around children
- Avoid internal use unless under qualified professional guidance
